Running a fund should leave room
for actually running the fund.

Every new investor, entity, and reporting deadline brings more work. Even with an administrator, an accountant, and a stack of software, someone on the team still has to gather the records, resolve the questions, and put the report together.

We’re building Cosimo to carry out that recurring work, using the fund’s own records, methods, and review requirements. Our backgrounds span financial operations, software engineering, and bringing complex systems into everyday use.

Eliot Puplett

A view from inside

Eliot’s background spans financial infrastructure and building investment businesses. At SEI Investments, he became the firm’s youngest Business Lead, leading its Wells Fargo implementation—the company’s largest project. He went on to help launch and structure a hedge fund, handling its legal setup, SEC filings, and operational build-out.

Having worked through both a major bank implementation and the practical demands of starting a fund, Eliot understands how much has to happen behind an investment decision. At Cosimo, he leads product and strategy, translating the work fund teams need done into the product we build.

Shariq
Ali

CTO & Co-founder

Shariq Ali

Building the system
that does the work.

Shariq is a self-taught engineer with a background in robotics, blockchain infrastructure, and AI systems. Before Cosimo, he was Lead Developer at Blockchain Center NYC. His experience spans the full system: the software people interact with, the infrastructure underneath it, and the logic that connects the two.

He designed and built Cosimo’s platform from the ground up, including its data architecture, model orchestration, and application infrastructure. As CTO, he leads engineering across every layer, turning AI capabilities into software that can follow a fund’s process and produce the work its team needs.

Aamina
Bawany

COO & Co-founder

Aamina Bawany

Making complex systems
useful in practice.

Aamina’s background includes AI and data security systems for JPMorgan, American Express, and government agencies, alongside operations and growth roles at startups. She has also consulted on technology projects for the United Nations and World Bank. Her neuroscience research explores the relationship between brain systems and AI architecture.

At Cosimo, Aamina leads client relationships and operations, working directly with fund teams on deployment, adoption, and recurring processes. She brings their practical requirements into the team’s work, with a focus on testing, security, and validation.

How we came together

Three backgrounds.
One shared problem.

We worked together through 2024 and 2025 to understand the problem and explore how AI could help solve it. We formed the company in late 2025, launched our first product that December, and welcomed our first client in January 2026.

The work with fund teams has shaped our approach ever since. Their documents, exceptions, calculations, and approval steps are the starting point. We turn that understanding into repeatable processes, so the work can run again next quarter and the method stays with the team.
