Frequently Asked Questions
What does Cosimo do?
Cosimo is an AI agent for financial operations from Medici & Company. It prepares recurring reports, checks, follow-ups, and review packages from the records your firm already keeps. We configure each process around your sources, calculations, output format, and approval requirements, then retain that method for subsequent runs.
Who is Cosimo for?
Cosimo is for banking, fund, insurance, and financial services teams with recurring manual work. Banks can start with loan activity reports, borrower review packages, or account-file checks. Fund examples cover real estate, venture capital, private equity, private credit, and hedge funds. Insurance teams can explore renewal preparation, submission checks, and claims-file summaries. Administration, accounting, and advisory firms can start with client reporting and document collection. We assess fit against the specific work, records, and review requirements.
What work can we start with?
Choose a recurring task with identifiable records and a clear output: a daily loan activity report, investor update, renewal checklist, or client reporting package. We agree the inputs, output, and acceptance criteria with your team, then configure and test the first process.
Does Cosimo replace our administrator or accountant?
Cosimo works alongside your operations team, administrator, accountant, and other advisers. It takes on preparation and coordination: gathering records, checking figures, and assembling work for review. It is not your administrator of record. Accounting, valuation, professional sign-off, and business decisions remain with the people responsible for them.
Do we have to change our reporting format?
Your existing report is the starting point. We agree the figures, calculations, commentary, headings, and checks it needs, then configure and test the process with your team. The agreed method and format are saved for the next reporting period.
What happens when information is missing or figures disagree?
Cosimo flags missing information and discrepancies for review, with references back to the records used. Your team can inspect the figures, resolve the question, and approve any change. The examples on this site show that process: a possible duplicate in a bank activity file, a conflicting insurance submission, and differences between portfolio-company accounts and commentary.
Who controls what Cosimo sends or does?
Your team sets permissions and approval requirements for each process and user. Actions can be allowed, require approval, or be denied. Cosimo can prepare and send communications through connected accounts when authorized. We agree those permissions during setup; the website examples show drafts for review and do not send messages or move money.
Is Cosimo in use, and how has it been tested?
Yes. Clients use Cosimo daily. In an internal test on a synthetic real estate fund with five properties and eight investors, Cosimo matched every report figure to the cent against an 88-row source sheet and raised five exceptions for review. The interactive website examples use fictional records and authored outputs to illustrate the work. For your evaluation, we agree the acceptance criteria and review the output against your own source records before approving the process.
How will Cosimo work with our systems?
Cosimo works with documents, spreadsheets, and email, with connections to Google Drive, SharePoint, Gmail, Outlook, and Google Calendar. We agree which sources and permissions your process needs and verify the setup with your team. An evaluation can start with agreed file exports; any connection to a core banking, policy, claims, or accounting system needs a separate scope review.
How do we assess data handling and security?
We review access, data handling, retention, and your security requirements before agreeing an evaluation. Client data is restricted to that client’s work and is not used to train shared models. We do not currently have a SOC 2 report; a SOC 2 examination is on our roadmap. Tell us which evidence and approvals your vendor review requires so we can establish whether the proposed setup meets them.
How do we evaluate Cosimo, and what does it cost?
Start with one recurring task. We agree the scope, data requirements, and NDA before you share source files. We then confirm feasibility in writing, configure the process, and review the output and its sources with you. Model usage is charged at cost, with no markup; platform scope and commercial terms are agreed before starting. Timing depends on the records, task, and review requirements.
How do we start?
Email info@medici.ai with the process that takes too much of your team’s time. A few sentences are enough: what you prepare, where the information comes from, and which part is slowest. We’ll assess fit, identify a first task to test with your team, and agree the scope before starting.
